Description

Prime with DEKOZELL Acoustic System Deep Primer

The substrates must always be level and have a load-bearing capacity of at least 15 kg/m². To adjust the absorbency, always prime the substrates with DEKOZELL Acoustic System Deep Primer.

If required, fill unevenness and break-outs with DEKOZELL Acoustic Mineral Adhesive.

If required, DEKOZELL Acoustic System Mineral Adhesive can also be used to fill plaster break-outs or uneven areas–after these have been pre-treated with DEKOZELL Deep Primer.

The mineral adhesive is cement-based with plastic hardening additives. Open time 30 minutes.

Apply DEKOZELL Acoustic Mineral Adhesive to the panel side with the phase.

Apply the mineral adhesive to the panel side using a 6-tooth trowel. Attention: Apply the adhesive to the side of the panel with the surrounding phase!

Position the plate and slide into position.

  • Do NOT hammer in, only push!
  • Do NOT glue the panel joints (adhesive could get onto the front of the panels and unnecessarily seal these areas acoustically)
  • Work cleanly so that no adhesive gets onto the front sides
  • Glue the boards flush over the entire surface (among other things to avoid condensation build-up due to thermal bridges, similar to diffusion-open interior thermal insulation)
Panel cutting and cut-outs possible with conventional tools.

The panels can be cut and processed very well with conventional tools. A Japanese saw is recommended for almost dust-free cuts with high precision. Jigsaws, hole saws and cutter knives are also possible cutting tools. Very efficient cuts are also possible on a circular saw with a normal interchangeable blade.

Fix inserts for sockets, switches or recessed spotlights in the panel cut-outs using DEKOZELL mineral adhesive.

Correct any misalignment at the panel joints by sanding with 40 grit sandpaper.

It is possible to compensate for any misalignment of the panels after gluing by sanding. Use 40 grit sandpaper so that no fine sanding dust is produced that would seal the acoustic pores of the panel. It is essential to use a sander with suction so that the sanding dust does not enter the panel and seal it acoustically. Instead of a sanding giraffe, the finer Mirka CEROS 6505 random orbital sander would also be an alternative for sanding the panels. It is better to use thin gloves for sanding and ‘feeling’ the panel offsets. The glass beads of the plate quickly grind the skin of the fingertips!

Vacuum the entire surface

To remove dust and loose glass granules, vacuum the entire surface.

Apply a thin layer of DEKOZELL hybrid polymer to the joints. Only apply material sparingly!

Apply DEKOZELL Hybrid-Polymer very sparingly to the panel joints and smooth flush with a Japanese spatula. Keep the joint width of the polymer as narrow as possible, as these areas are acoustically sealed and can no longer absorb sound.

Also apply the polymer to the edge connection of the panels to adjacent walls or in the ceiling axel, here (as is usual with silicone joints) as a fillet weld.

The polymer can be applied in a similar way to silicone. The soapy water must be mixed to a much higher concentration than is usual with silicone.

In the edge areas: Coat the polymer with a quartz bonding bridge.

The polymer forms a smooth surface when drying. However, DEKOZELL always requires a rough substrate for adhesion. In the edge areas of the acoustic surface, therefore, coat the polymer with a pigmented quartz bonding bridge (Sto PrepIn). Within the acoustic surface, the bonding bridge only needs to be applied in the case of larger areas of polymer filler.

If necessary, the polymer can be painted over while still wet. It requires moisture to cure anyway.

Spray DEKOZELL generously over acoustic panels with a fine spray pattern

-> see instructions ‘Mixing and coloring with DEKOZELL’
-> see instructions ‘Processing with Inomat M8’

Mix DEKOZELL as described in the two instructions and set Inomat M8 ready for spraying.

Spray on material with a fine spray pattern in a circular motion. Adjust the spray pattern so that there are no craters when spraying and, if possible, no air pockets in the sprayed coating.

Intermediate smoothing of the DEKOZELL with Pajarito Filler No. 958.

Intermediate smoothing of the first layer of DEKOZELL with the Pajarito spatula no. 958 after spraying. The open time of the plaster is several hours, which ensures relaxed working.

A second layer of DEKOZELL is then sprayed on. Spray the two layers wet-on-wet and WITHOUT intermediate drying!

After intermediate smoothing, spray on another layer of DEKOZELL directly wet-on-wet WITHOUT intermediate drying.

Insert picture of Mirka CEROS 650-5.

If the surface is to remain textured at the end, the spray pattern for this second coat should be set a little coarser. Adjust the air and material quantity so that no craters form when the material is sprayed on. Otherwise these craters will all come through again when drying!

If a smoothed surface is desired as the final coating, again set a rather fine spray pattern and spray the material with as few air pockets as possible. If a smooth surface is desired, smoothing with the Pajarito spatula only 958 is of course necessary after spraying.

Attention: We recommend that the smoothed surfaces are only done in the color white!

During drying, the smoothed surface forms a leather-like grain, which varies in intensity in different areas. In some cases, this grain (“baby elephant skin”) can already be seen during the smoothing process. With the white shade, this grain can be transformed into a smooth, velvety surface by sanding after drying. Sanding is relatively time-consuming. We recommend the Mirka CEROS 650-5 light random orbital sander with 52 suction holes on a 150 mm diameter disc and the Mirka 320 grit sanding mesh for sanding the DEKOZELL. If the sanding dust is not removed immediately, fiber knots and thus grooves form in the sanding pattern–therefore we recommend the Mirka eccentric sander with the 52 suction holes and the fine sanding mesh.

WHAT YOU REALLY WANT. BETTER THAN EVER.

We give everything for your smooth result.

Seamless acoustic plaster systems are still a niche product. But one that we live and love. We have specialized in it, are really good at it and do it with enthusiasm. And we offer you and your team the expertise, performance, and flexibility you need to get the job done. For both small and large projects.

„We develop tools for creative people to optimize spaces such as recording studio control rooms, recording rooms or concert halls. In 2012, we were looking for a seamless acoustic plaster solution for the redesign of control room 7 at ORF Vienna. All of the competing systems could not be repaired and the trickling onto the expensive sound technology was also unacceptable. With DEKOZELL, we have had a capable acoustic plaster partner ever since.“

„We build atmosphere for our discerning customers. Mainly for high-quality residential buildings. We strive for an aesthetic that emphasizes simplicity. Rough and sensitive acoustic plaster ceilings have always caused us problems. DEKOZELL, on the other hand, is simple, beautiful and smooth. And gives us a new freedom in design.“

„We have already worked with almost all acoustic plaster manufacturers. DEKOZELL was a game changer for us. Absolutely invisible repairs and the very special feel of the surface convinced us completely. Today, we have more than 30 people working on the acoustic spray filler and use several spraying machines.“

„Acoustic plaster is a top priority for me. Because DEKOZELL acoustic plaster systems are usually included in the painting tender, I have already received several villa projects as a complete order. Sanding really does the trick. Difficult installation situations or quick repairs are no problem. I also really like the DEKOZELL sealant for the edge connection, which looks exactly right.“

„I was highly skeptical at the beginning. Our customer wanted FLEXOPANEL on the ceiling and on a large wall. We’d never done that before. Through WhatsApp video calls and top work instructions, we grew into it step by step. We are delighted with the result. And so was the customer.“
